I have a jvc everio gz-mg157u hdd 30g camcorder/camera. My promlem is that the videos that are stored in the camera I can not find. When I go into my videos, it says that there are no videos stored but there is some video space on the hard drive that is used up. Also, when I press the record button, it records for about one second if even, and then it goes right back to the pause icon and records nothing. Can you help me out? This is a very expensive camera and I really need it to work righ You should take it in to have someone look at it. It sounds likes its more than just the hard drive.
OK - AFTER LOSING 2 DAYS OF MY LIFE I GET THAT I CAN'T GET MY VIDEO BACK:((( BUT I NEED TO UNDERSTAND WHY SO IT DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. I used canon dc 100 with TDK DVD-R disk which doesn't require initialization - only finalization. I recorded video - played it back IN camcorder, no problems - then finalized, but something (that's what I need to figure out why possibly occurred!!) something bad happened and deleted all video - it reads blank disk according to online recovery software, windows, a You do not have to change the extension.but just to convert it in a format that will play in all players.and this will be the avi format or mpeg4.Those are the most common ones used today and they do not need much but a FFDshow codex installed. I love my camera for the pictures but when I record video there is no sound and what is there is not good quality, btw I am recording live music. I can use some help here. Do i need to buy an audio attachment for video recording and if so, where can I find such device Check the microphone on the camera.
There's a possibility that when it was made, the assemblers forgot to connect it inside the camera - I've seen cases like that before. Did it have audio before?
If it can use an external microphone, check that. I have a Nikon S3000 digital camera in blue and i recently bought a Sandisk 8 gb card for it and before i had a 4 gb card, as well a Sandisk. My 4 gb card worked fine and recorded videos but my 8 gb card does take pictures but its a bit slow and it will start to record video but after ten seconds or so it will say that this card cannot be read. Any help to what settings i need to change or is this the wrong card? Sandisc makes cards in various speeds or 'classes'. For videos, it's best to use a class 6 or better card.

Sounds like your new 8GB card is a class 4 or lower. My g9 was playing video clips very fast. I changed the setting back to 'standard' and can record/play new videos correctly; however, the video clip that i previously recorded before i changed the setting back to standard still plays back fast and that is the video i need. Any suggestions? I believe the setting you changed set the RECORD method, not playback. The video is recorded that way. There are some Video software out there that can rerecord a video at a slower pace, but do you want to spend the money?
Try Ulead.com for a low cos. Viewing images I can't view images on my camera anymore.
How can i fix this. When i press the review button it only show the last image that i took, but not all of the other images. Also, when i go to the recording mode.to record videos, it doesnt record, but takes pictures!thanks for the help!i just hope i dont need a new camera! Does this camera have a round keypad on the back? If so when you go to look at your pictures push the button up, or,down, left or right. On my sony I push the round menu pad up while looking at pics and that displays all the pics.
